Marketing Is Too Complicated: Discover Simple Video Marketing Strategy!

Updated: Jan 22, 2022

My name is Joel, and for the past 7 years I've struggled to find simple solutions to effectively market my business. The problem isn't the lack of solutions, the problem is too many voices with competing perspectives. Learn how I filtered out the noise and effectively maneuvered some complex marketing problems using VIDEO!

Before listing your tips below, add one last sentence that sums up your paragraph or offers a smooth transition to your listicle.

Tip #1 - Stop making high quality content!

I'm sure you hear it all the time - "Quality over quantity", and in many cases this is true, however there is a fine line between quality and over complication.

In the world of video marketing quality is measured in how effective your message is, not how good your video looks. Is there a point at which lack of quality can turn customers away? Of course, but most people don't know the fine line.

Here are some ways to know the fine line:

  1. I need to see you in good light. If I have to squint my eyes because it's too dark, or back away because its too bright, then adjust your video until it lands in the middle - Fancy filters and grades aren't necessary.

  2. I need to be able to hear you without background noise distracting me and without you being to far from the camera that I struggle to make out words. A good tip is to reference a bad phone connection. when we have a bad connection w are frustrated and want to hang up. The same is true for your viewers, I they can hear you, they will stop watching.

Tip #2 - Create With Intent

The worst thing about videos is when people ramble on and on just to fill up time. Don't make videos just to fill up the time in order to get higher retention rates on YouTube or other platforms. genuinely make content that is helpful for your viewers. Unless you're trying to grow a YouTube channel, its about, relevant information not longterm retention.

Tip #3 - Create A Reference Book

Spend some time each week researching people in your industry who are creating videos similar for your niche. Take nots of what you like and what yo don't and create a broad highlighting what stands out to you. If you get board or lose interest watching someone else's video in your same industry, then chances are your clients will too. Replicated the good, get rid of the bad!

A good tool to use for mood boards is it's free and can be used online or on your desktop.

Tip #4 - Be Confident

The reason people don't see good results with their videos is because they aren't confident behind the camera. It will take time to get comfortable, but the more you do it, the better you will feel. It's important to show the human side of you and to be transparent with your viewers. Try not to be a stiff robot and let it be okay for you to make mistakes. People will connect with you more when they see your flaws :)

The Elephant In The Room!

To conclude, I want to remind you that video marketing is not as subjective as you think. In short video marketing can be summed up as such; "Video is an extension of you, not a tool to hide behind" - Joel Pernell. Click Here, to learn how to plan your video marketing strategy more efficiently.
